Texas treats homeschools as private schools under state law, with no registration requirement. TEFA adds a $2,000 account for homeschool families who are accepted into the program.
Homeschool/other accounts are funded 100% on July 1. Students who were awarded as private-school students and later switch to homeschool drop to the flat $2,000.
The $2,000 tier is where microschools and hybrid programs fit unless they are a participating private school. A microschool that is accredited and has operated two years can join as a school, which moves its families to the $10,474 tier.
How to stack it
TEFA Homeschool / Other ($2,000) can usually be combined with school-based aid and at least one other source on this site. Complete the funding check and an advisor will map the full stack for your child.
