| Scenario | 2026-27 TEFA | Tuition + fees | Result | Then what |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Church K-5 school in Cypress (tuition + registration/books) | $10,474 | $11,350 | $876 to pay | A member discount usually closes most of the gap. Our partner fund targets the rest. |
| Parish Catholic elementary in Bellaire | $10,474 | $9,800 | $674 left | The account covers tuition. The remainder pays for uniforms, books and lunch, which are eligible fees. |
| Montessori elementary in Katy | $10,474 | $14,500 | $4,026 to pay | School aid and sibling discounts are the next layers. The federal tax credit arrives January 2027. |
| Specialized dyslexia school, Houston ISD resident with a mainstream IEP | $16,818 | $26,000 | $9,182 to pay | The IEP add-on raises the account by $6,344 and covers about two-thirds of tuition. School aid closes the rest. |
| Christian high school in The Woodlands | $10,474 | $16,500 | $6,026 to pay | The gap is $6,026 before aid. Dual-credit course fees can also come from the account. |
| Homeschool with AmFaith online (grades 3-12) | $2,000 | $3,000 | $1,000 to pay | A $1,000 gap on the homeschool tier, which is the kind our partner scholarship is built for. |
Tuition figures are illustrative of each type of school in Houston. Texas private schools don't report tuition to the state, so confirm it with the school.
If there's a gap
Options include school aid, Archdiocese or community tuition assistance, the Edu Fund partner scholarship at partner church schools, and the federal scholarship tax credit starting January 2027.
