Rules that apply

  • Participating schools must give a nationally norm-referenced assessment to students in grades 3-12 each year.
  • Credential and certification exam fees count as assessments.

What isn't allowed

  • Medical exams outside educational therapies

In Houston

Several approved assessment vendors offer at-home norm-referenced testing for homeschool families.

How to buy it

Log in to the TEFA parent portal (Odyssey). Pay your school or an approved provider through the platform, or buy approved products in the marketplace. If a provider isn't listed, it has to apply and be approved before it can be paid.
