What TEFA pays at a private school — fee by fee

The Comptroller's May 28, 2026 tuition and fee guidelines settle most questions families ask at enrollment.

Same tuition for everyone

A student may not be charged different tuition or fees because they receive TEFA. Sibling, employee and parishioner discounts keep applying.

Eligible fees

Enrollment and registration, books and materials, technology, school-related activities and athletics, tutoring and therapies provided by the school, uniforms, school-day meals, mandatory facility and security fees, graduation, transportation and assessment fees.

Not eligible

Before- and after-school care or other non-educational supervision, capital campaign or fundraising charges, and parent organization dues.

Paying ahead

There is no time restriction on eligible payments — families can use 2026-27 funds toward 2027-28 tuition. Refunds must go back to the account, never to the parent.
